In the gang rape case, the BHU IIT student can present her side through video conferencing from the witness room of the court premises. On Thursday, the court of Fasttrack Court (First) Kuldeep Singh gave the verdict while accepting the application for cross-examination through video conferencing. The next hearing in this case will be on December 16.

The victim student had demanded cross-examination through video conferencing from the university or anywhere else. On the night of November 1, 2023, an IIT student was gang-raped by three bike-riding youths in the BHU campus. On the basis of the case registered in Lanka police station, the accused Kunal Pandey, Anand Chauhan alias Abhishek and Saksham Patel were arrested and sent to jail.

According to the prosecution, ADGC Manoj Gupta applied on behalf of the victim that she does not want to come to the court again and again for cross-examination due to security and other reasons. Permission has been sought to conduct cross-examination through video conferencing. After hearing both the parties on this application, the court partially accepted it and gave its verdict.

Said that the victim will be present in the witness room in the court premises itself. Also, during that time no one other than the computer technology expert will be present there. Before cross-examination, the entire witness room will be shown through cameras to see if anyone is present.
